Ashton’s Ex Ashley Ellerin’s Murder Suspect Michael Gargiulo

Police have linked Michael Gargiulo, an air conditioning repairman, through DNA to the murder in 2001 of Ashley Ellerin, who was dating actor Ashton Kutcher at the time of her murder.

Ashton Kutcher had told police that he had invited Ashley Ellerin, 22, to a post-Grammy party, and went to pick her up. When Ashton arrived, there was no one answering the door. Kutcher peeked through a window in the back and saw what he thought was red wine stains on the carpet. After no answer, he finally left.

Ashley Ellerin’s body was discovered the next day by her friend.

Santa Monica police Lt. Darrell Lowe said DNA collected from a crime scene last spring helped link Gargiulo to the stabbing deaths of women from Los Angeles, suburban Chicago and Monterey Park.

The murder suspect, Michael Gargiulo, had been in custody since June for attempted murder of another woman. And recently DNA evidence came back that linked Gargiulo to several murders, including Ashley Ellerin.

Police are said to have a DNA match which links Gargiulo to the stabbing of a Monterey Park woman in 2005. They also suspect Gargiulo in the 1993 killing of a high school girl in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, where Gargiulo happened to live at the time. Tricia Pacaccio, a senior at Glenbrook South High School, was found stabbed to death on her front doorstep, still holding the key to her front door.

Gargiulo was being held in lieu of $1.1 million bail on attempted murder and burglary charges stemming from the April 28 stabbing of a Santa Monica woman in her home, Lowe said. Detectives matched a DNA sample taken from blood at the crime scene to Gargiulo. Lowe said further database cross-referencing found that Gargiulio’s DNA matched genetic evidence in the three killings.

Thus far, Garguilo hasn’t been charged for Ellerin’s murder yet, but his lawyer even admits he is the prime suspect.

Is anyone scratching their head right about now? Ashton Kutcher, (believe it or not) has a brilliant mind, as he was a biochemical engineering student. He is no dummy and is not dense or stupid as his characters portray him to be.

I am shocked that he cannot tell the difference between wine stains on a carpet and a bloody murder scene. This woman was stabbed to death. Common sense says that she put up a struggle and her place would have been covered and splattered with blood.

It seems to me that Ashton put his own career ahead of his duty to report his girlfriend’s murder. Doing so would have created a negative impression of a rising star, even though he was innocent (as I believe he is). Instead, he walked away from the scene and left her there for a friend to find her the following day.

I cannot help but think that at that year, at that time in his career, (3rd year into ‘That 70’s show’) he felt his career was more important than coming forward to police that his girlfriend had been murdered.

My level of respect for him is at an all-time low.

this has nothing to do with Ashton. He should have tried harder to contact Ashely.what a dunce. Yes there was blood everywhere and her throat was slashed. It was a brutal murder. But I don’t think you are ever prepared to think of this kind of thing. She was actually a part time stripper in Las Vegas not really a model.
As ir was this guy Mike was stalking her and she was afraid of him. he lived in the neighborhood and was always around.
