John McCain has chosen Sarah Palin for his VP running mate on the Republican ticket. It doesn’t hurt matters that Sarah Palin is pretty hot! Maybe a sexy librarian or teacher type?

Pretty good choice for McCain it seems. Palin will be the first woman to serve on the Republican presidential ticket. In addition, Palin is also the first Alaskan to be on the national ticket.

Sarah Palin, 44, was elected Alaska’s first woman governor in 2006.

Although Sarah Palin’s selection came as a surprise to many, with the others McCain could have considered that were more well-known.

But it seems to be a wise choice being a female, still fairly young, which should appeal to some that wanted a female in the White House.

Sarah Palin is the mother to five children. Her last child was born last April. The baby boy has Down Syndrome.

“When we first heard, it was kind of confusing,” Palin said, according to an account in the Anchorage Daily News. She called the news “very, very challenging.”

But she added in a note, imagining what God would say to her family, “Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed-up world you live in down there on Earth. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome.”

Palin is anti-abortion, and perhaps her personal experiences guided her to make that personal decision.

A little background and bio on Sarah Palin:

Sarah Palin was born in Idaho, the daughter of Charles and Sally Heath. The Heath family moved to Alaska when Palin was just a baby. Her father was a science teacher and coach. The Heath family loved the outdoors, and would go hunting and run marathons together.

Sarah Palin played basketball for the Wasilla High School Warriors, and they won the basketball championship in 1982. During that time, she was given the nickname of “Sarah Barracuda” because of her go-getting attitude. Sarah also was part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in school, and led the basketball team in prayer before their games.

Not only was Sarah Palin smart, but also very attractive. Back In 1984, Palin won the Miss Wasilla contest and finished second in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant. This win helped gain her a scholarship, which helped her pay her way through college. Interesting to note, Palin also was given the title in the pageant of “Miss Congeniality”.

Sarah Palin has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Idaho university, and also a minor in politics.

Palin’s husband, Todd Palin, is a native Yup’ik Eskimo. Todd Palin works for BP at an oil field, fishes, and is a champion snowmobiler.

Todd and Sarah eloped after Palin graduated from college, and needing witnesses for their small civil ceremony, they got two residents from a retirement home down the street. The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 40 miles North of Anchorage.

Sarah Palin worked as a sports reporter for a short time for Anchorage tv, and also as a commercial fisherman with her husband, Todd. S

Palin’s oldest child, Track, joined the army when he turned 18, in September of 2007. Track serves in the infantry brigade and will deply to Iraq in September of 2008. Palin also has three daughters: Bristol, 17; Willow, 13; and Piper, 7. Her last child born April of 2008 was Trig, who has Down Syndrome. Palin refused to let the results of prenatal genetic testing change her decision to have the baby. “I’m looking at him right now, and I see perfection,” Palin said. “Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?”

Sarah Palin likes to hunt, eat moose hamburgers, ice fishes, snowmobiles, and has even admitted trying marijuana when it was legal in Alaska, but says she didn’t care for it.

On social issues, Sarah Palin is strongly pro-life and is a member of Feminists for Life. She does support capital punishment.

Palin opposes same sex marriage, but says she does have gay and lesbian friends, and understands concerns about discrimination. Alaska was one of the first, behind Hawaii, to ban same-sex marriage.

On Sarah Palin’s energy policies, Palin is known for her independence from big oil companies, but also promotes resource development.

Due to high oil and gas prices, Palin proposed giving a $100 per month energy debit card. And also wanted grants for electrical utilities so that they could reduce their customer’s bill. Palin later dropped the debit card proposal, but decided to send Alaskans $1200 a month directly and eliminated the tax on gas.

Palin did go through a commissioner dismissal scandal. Back in July of 2008, Palin dismissed Walter Monegan as the Commissioner of Public Safety but did offer him the executive director of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Monegan turned that position offer down. Monegan said his dismissal was due to his not wanting to fire Mike Wooten, an Alaskan State Trooper. Wooten had been in a divorce and custody battle with Sarah Palin’s sister, Molly McCann. But in 2006, before Palin was elected, Wooten had been suspended for threatening to kill Palin’s (and sister McCann’s) father, and had tasered his 11 year old stepson. Wooten maintained the step-son wanted to be tasered. Okay…

Governor Palin said Monegan’s dismissal was for not filing state trooper vacancies, and because he “did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues.”

In response to Palin’s statement that she had nothing to hide, in August 2008 the Alaska Legislature hired Steve Branchflower to investigate Palin and her staff for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal. The investigation is being overseen by Democratic State Senator Hollis French, who says that the Palin administration has been cooperating and thus subpoenas are unnecessary. The Palin administration itself was the first to release an audiotape of Bailey making inquiries about the status of the Wooten investigation.

Wooten and the police union alleged that the governor had improperly released his employment files in his divorce case. However, McCann’s attorney released a signed waiver from Wooten demonstrating that Wooten had authorized the release of his files through normal discovery procedure.

While McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin seems to shock many, thinking McCain would choose Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, Joseph Lieberman, or Tom Ridge.

So what do you think of McCain’s choice in VP running mate, Sarah Palin?

You have to admit that Sarah Palin is pretty hot (remember she was in the Ms. Alaska Pageant) and MUCH BETTER on the eyes than Joe Biden. Oh and wait until you see the bikini pics!!! NOT BAD for a mother of 5.

A Femminist For Life? THat sounds about as much of a fucking joke as an antiabortion activist for executing juveniles.

My opinion of a statesman or stateswoman is not a topless slut for life. She had a bitter and brutal divorce. She will not connect in states like NH where people like lower taxes and less government, but not criminalizing abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

Mr Mccain what have you done? You used to be someone I liked and respected. I thought you were a different kind of Republican.

I am sure her children are important to her, but how can you be a single mother taking care of five kids and travelling around the world. This pick is insane.

Obama is smart, and Michelle Obama is very personable and far more personable and much better looking than Sara Palin. Michelle Obama will make a much better first lady than Sarah Paulin; Did I say first lady? My God, I can’t picture this former beauty queen divorcee to ever run our country. So much for family values. Family values in america is just a myth and our people suffer year after year after year. We must stand up, unite and insure that Obama will be our next president.

I would never in my life vote for Obama, someone that thinks it’s alright to drill into little baby heads to kill them before they are born, as late as 8 months to term, what does it matter if she has a topless photo compared to that, we all make mistakes!

A Warning for Barack Obama. You are going to have to watch your emotional sense of Sarah Palin. People like her, conservatives, are just following rules in their consideration for others. They are rules as in a competition or sporting event, rules that must be obeyed and that derive from fear of judgment from authority, not from any real empathy for the pain and suffering of others. For all conservatives have had their natural emotions wiped from their psyches and replaced by fear of punishment for disobeying rules, fear and guilt inculcated as “conscience” by fear of punishment at a young age. Rather than caring about people as I know you do, Barack, out of genuine empathy, they care about how they are seen and judged in the way that they treat people. Much will be made about McCain and Palin’s attitudes toward people during Hurricane Gustav. There are limits as to how much you can thwart the perception of the electorate towards her and McCain’s sympathy for victims of the storm, for visible statements of concern and supporting deeds speak for themselves are hard to contradict in people’s minds whatever their motive. Reality is the unrehearsed response by conservatives to what happened during Hurricane Katrina. Counterbalance their kind act political theatre during this storm when all eyes are upon them as best you can within the limits of political reality. But you must not, yourself, not even for a moment, become emotionally connected toward Palin as a fellow caring individual in any way, for that misplaced identification of her with yourself would be emotionally fatal to the proper attitude you must have towards her no more than a player on the Bush, Rove, Limbaugh conservative gang that seeks four more years of power, four more years that will destroy us all. She is no more than the sheep’s clothing of the wolf, never more in your mind than an enemy of the people that must be defeated in her efforts to get McCain into the White House.
