Scott Weiland Back To His Old Ways? STP Tampa Concert Cancelled (Photos)

The Stone Temple Pilots show was cancelled at the last minute, supposedly due to the weather. Sources say the more likely reason is Scott Weiland screwing up again, and back on drugs.

The Stone Temple Pilots cancelled their concert on Friday, saying it was due to “inclement weather.”

The announcement of the cancellation wasn’t made until approximately 10:15 p.m., making the 6,500 Stone Temple Pilot fans very upset.

One STP fan had stated, “The storms they were attempting to lay blame on were in North Florida and were not impacting Central Florida or South Florida where they had played in Hollywood, Florida two days prior. They did cancel a show in Orlando on Tuesday evening which I completely understood and people were informed ahead of time due a tropical storm in the area.”

The real reason, STP fans speculate, is that Scott Weiland is probably effing up again on drugs and alcohol.

At the STP show on July 30th at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, AZ, Weiland ranted incoherently in between their songs, he flat-out forgot his lyrics, and even fell into a drum kit.

According to a review by The Arizona Republic, Scott Weiland came onstage and muttered something about STP, and his previous band The Velvet Revolver, before the rest of the band had taken the stage. About a minute and a half into opening number “Big Empty”, Weiland walked backward until he fell into the front of the drums.

The other members of the band STP, attempted to play and shut down the strange rants and comments Scott Weiland tried to make in between songs.

STP had reunited to tour early Spring, but thus far Weiland has proved to be back to his old ways, showing up more than an hour late for shows, and acting crazy on stage.

If you remember, Scott Weiland was kicked out of The Velvet Revolver back in April, and spent about a month in a rehab center a bit before his dismissal.

Scott Weiland has a well-known history of drug and alcohol abuse, but was said to be clean and sober in 2003. Apparently not!

For those disgruntled Tampa area concert-goers that feel cheated, at least you can get a refund. Live Nation announced:

“The Stone Temple Pilots performance originally scheduled for Friday 8/22/08 at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa has been postponed. Those holding tickets for this performance will have them honored if a new date is announced. Those requesting refunds can receive them through their point of purchase.”

Weiland is so talented and sexy, perhaps the “guyliner” or the way he moves on stage, but he always has to “eff up” every chance that comes his way. Let’s hope he can get his shit together!
