Christopher Mintz-Plasse is an actor that debuted in the hilarious comedy “Superbad” in 2007. Christopher was awesome in the movie, playing the character “Fogell” or “McLovin”. But can you see “McLovin” in an action movie? Well, you will soon…
“Kick-Ass” is a movie about a high school dork who decides to become a superhero even though he doesn’t possess any gifts or superpowers.
Perhaps a hint at the tone of the film was casting Christopher Mintz-Plasse of “Superbad”. And although, you can definitely see him playing a high school dweeb, he was actually cast in a supporting role.
This teen action movie will have McLovin as the villian!
Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s character will be the Red Mist, the son of a mobster who faces off against the would-be superhero. Just the idea of seeing “McLovin” as a nerd-turned-player and bad guy makes you want to see the movie!
The lead actor will be Aaron Johnson, 18, that played the younger Ed Norton in “The Illusionist”.
Nicholas Cage also joins the cast, and plays father to a “a vicious, foul-mouthed 11-year-old who chops down criminals with a katana.” Sounds interesting anyway!
Interesting background on Mintz-Plasse. Christopher never had acting experience, other than drama classes in school, before acting in “Superbad”. Mintz-Plasse just said he never was cast in school plays because the drama teacher “didn’t like him”.
Mintz-Plasse was cast in the role of Fogell after he and two of his friends from school all auditioned. New to acting, Christopher didn’t even have a head shot, much less a portfolio, and brought a photo taken with his cellphone to the audition.
You might have also seen Christopher Mintz-Plasse in the Youtube video called the “Teabag Incident”. He and his friends attempt to show the dangers of teabagging. Pretty funny stuff!
Can you imagine “Fogell” as a nerd turned bad-ass villian? “Kick-Ass” should be very cool!
Here’s a clip of “McLovin” in all his glory in “Superbad”:
