Hollywood’s celebrity actresses condemn the ageist attitude.
Posted on August 14, 2008Scarlett Johansson criticized Hollywood’s treatment of older women. She told Hello magazine that she thought the movie industry was ageist in their refusal to use older women.
Scarlett Johansson, 23, is well aware that older actresses face a lack of suitable roles. Hollywood wanted sex symbols who are young. She had her opinion that women age like wine, becoming better as they grew more mature with age.
Meryl Streep, 59, had earlier spoken out against the bias on older women in Hollywood. She said older women were portrayed as grotesque in movies. Demi Moore, 45, had also said that scriptwriters had difficulty writing roles for her.
