Young Olympic Singing Star Lyp-synched: China Said Real Little Girl Singer “Not Cute Enough”

Yang Peiyi was the real talent behind the singing at the Olympic opening ceremony. Lin Miaoke,shown left in photo above, was shown singing at the Beijing Olympics on Friday. But China officials had her lip-synch the song “Ode to the Motherland” because the true 7 year-old singer, Yang Peiyi, shown on the right, was not cute enough!

Little Yang Peiyi, 7, was not thought to be pretty enough to perform the song in the opening ceremony of the Olympics, so instead a “cuter” girl faked singing.

A head honcho for China decided at the last-minute to have the prettier girl pretend to sing, Chen Qigang told Beijing Radio in his interview.

“The audience will understand that it’s in the national interest,” Chen said in a video of the interview posted online Sunday night.

Lin Miaoke’s performance became a huge hit! And “Nine-year-old Lin Miaoke becomes instant star with patriotic song,” the China Daily newspaper headline said Tuesday.

That just seems so unfair as the real singer was a cutie too!

The voice that truly wowed everyone was that of 7-year-old Yang Peiyi. Apparently she had the most beautiful voice but failed, according to China, in the “looks” department. They also did not like that Yang Peiyi’s teeth were crooked.

“The national interest requires that the girl should have good looks and a good grasp of the song and look good on screen,” Chen said. “Lin Miaoke was the best in this. And Yang Peiyi’s voice was the most outstanding.”

During a live rehearsal soon before the ceremony, the Politburo member said Miaoke’s voice “must change,” Chen said in the radio interview. He didn’t name the official.

So Peiyi’s voice was matched with Miaoke’s face.

“We had to make that choice. It was fair both for Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi,” Chen told Beijing Radio. “We combined the perfect voice and the perfect performance.”

Chen couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday.

Little Peiyi, the real singer said just having her voice used for the opening ceremony was an honor.

It seems the fakery is only just beginning to come to light. China also “faked” the fireworks show, which was digitally enhanced.
