Salman Rushdie’s ex-police guard tells on him.
Posted on July 29, 2008Salman Rushdie, who once had police guards around the clock, has been revealed to be a difficult man to work for.
An ex-special branch detective claimed that Salman Rushdie was once locked up in his cupboard for 2 hours while his guards went to a pub for drinks. The guards were frustrated with his attitude and decided to cool off with some drinks. Ron Evans, the ex police officer, has wrote his book to detail his experiences. His memoir is called, “On Her Majesty’s Service.”
Evans revealed that Rushdie was confined to house arrest at a secret location in 1989, to protect him from death threats. Many years later, the death threat was removed and Salman Rushdie enjoyed freedom.
