Did Lil Wayne use the Rolling Stones’ song?
Posted on July 25, 2008Lil Wayne has been accused of using music from the Rolling Stones.
Lil Wayne, aka Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is being sued by a music publishing company who owns the rights to the song, “Play With Fire.” Apparently, this is a song from the Rolling Stones. The music company is Abkco Music Inc. and they claim that Lil Wayne had released an alternate version of “Play With Fire.”
Abkco Music Inc. claimed that Lil Wayne’s alternative is explicitly sexist and offensive. They thought that Lil Wayne should have asked their permission before using their song.
Abkco Music Inc. is suing for copyright infringement and they want unspecified damages. At press time, their representative has not made any press release to comment on this issue.
