Tom Cruise in talks for Top Gun II.

Tom Cruise will cash in on the 1980s remake craze by filming Top Gun II. This would be some 20 years after the fighter pilot hung up his flying paraphernalia.

Top Gun (1986) made $350 million worldwide, which was one of the reasons the movie producers want a sequel. Tom Cruise, 46, is in negotiations to reprise his role as Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. Top Gun II has been predicted to be a box office hit. Cruise has never had another major hit movie as big as Top Gun.

Aside from business, Cruise and his wife, Katie Holmes, went to the Red Bull US MotoGP World Championship in Monterey, California. Their children were left at home and it was a rare couple outing for them.
