Jason Taylor Gets Traded From Miami Dolphins to the Washington Redskins

The Miami Dolphins trade defensive end, Jason Taylor to the Washington Redskins.
Bill Parcels made a pretty bold move in changing up the Miami Dolphins, by trading off one of their best players, Jason Taylor, to the Washington Redskins on Sunday, for a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-rounder in 2010.
The Miami Dolphins and Parcells, their new executive vice president, were hoping early in the off-season to obtain a first-rounder for Taylor, but their asking price dropped.
The deal was made after the Redskins lost the starting defensive end Phillip Daniels to a season-ending knee injury early on Sunday.
Jason Taylor, the 2006 NFL defensive player of the year, upset Bill Parcells before he played for him. Taylor was the first active player to compete on “Dancing With the Stars” this off-season, when Parcells really wanted him to work out at the Dolphins’ headquarters in Florida. Jason Taylor was reportedly mad when he thought Parcells ignored him when he stopped by the team’s offices to see him.
Taylor, who has made the Pro Bowl six times and has started every game for the past eight seasons, has two years remaining on his contract.
Taylor is 33 and has said he plans to play just one more season, but the Redskins believe he will play longer.
“We’re fortunate there was a guy that caliber on the market when somebody got hurt,” Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins’ executive vice president, told reporters in Ashburn, Va.
“Normally, in most years, there’s not a guy of that caliber on the market.”
