Venus Williams beat her younger sister Serena Williams to win her fifth Wimbledon victory today, July 5, 2008.

The Williams sisters met for the first time in a grand slam final since their last challenge in 2003. The sisters put up a good fight and neither showed bias in allowing concessions.

Venus fought hard to win each set in 7-5 6-4. The Williams sisters took 1 hour and 51 minutes to determine the outcome of the match. Venus praised her sister Serena and said she played very well.

Serena Williams said that she was happy that one of them won the Wimbledon title. She hoped that the Williams sisters can keep reaching the finals in Wimbledon in the years to come.
