Heath Ledger may get posthumous Oscar.
Posted on July 2, 2008Heath Ledger has been tipped to be awarded a posthumous Oscar for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
Movie critics reviewed his performance as being his best in his acting career. Heath Ledger died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in Jan. 2008. In his hometown in Perth, Australia, a new auditorium will be named in his honor.
The previous occasion that Heath was nominated for an Oscar was for his role in Brokeback Mountain in 2006. He lost to Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Soon after Ledger’s death, there were suggestions to axe Ledger from The Dark Knight. However, the problems were soon sorted out. Christian Bale, Ledger’s co-star, said that people should respect Ledger and watch his last movie.
