Ellen DeGeneres wins Daytime Emmy Award last night, and sets wedding date with girlfriend, Portia de Rossi.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are set to marry on Ellen’s show. DeGeneres recently presented Portia with a pink diamond ring to commemorate their engagement and impending marriage.
DeGeneres, 50, who won an Emmy during last nights 2008 Daytime Emmy awards show, for outstanding talk-show host for the fourth year in a row, and announced her plans to wed girlfriend Portia de Rossi. She made the emotional announcement of her engagement back in May, after the CA Supreme Court ruled to allow gay marriages.
Ellen and Portia are planning their “dream wedding”.
“Planning a wedding is very stressful,” says Ellen. “It is crazy. My gardener is now invited.”
Ellen did not reveal important details of her upcoming wedding to Portia, 35, only stating that “incredible people” would be performing, and that part of the wedding ceremony will air on her daytime show.
Ellen doesn’t seem nervous about getting married: “I can’t wait to be married. I feel like it is long overdue,” she said. “And I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous like we all don’t have the same rights.”
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have dated since December of 2004.
