Katherine Heigl Doesn’t Want an Emmy

Katherine Heigl, star of Grey’s Anatomy, has pulled out of the Emmy Race this year. Apparently, she doesn’t think she deserves to win one.
Katherine Heigl won best supporting actress in a drama in 2007 for her ABC Series, Grey’s Anatomy. But this year, Heigl decided against putting her name in for consideration for the Emmy.
Her spokesperson, Melissa Kates, gave this statement from Katherine saying, “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization”and decided against competing.”
“In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials,” Katherine adds.
Grey’s Anatomy has slipped a bit in its ratings this year, but is still a top 10 show. Katherine Heigl plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on the popular drama series.
Heigl rose to fame in last year’s funny movie, Knocked Up. Katherine isn’t one to hold her tongue and told Vanity Fair that the movie was “a little sexist” and that it painted women as “shrews, as humourless and uptight”, while the male characters were lovable and goofy.
Katherine also opened her mouth last year on Isaiah Washington when castmates clashed over Washington’s alleged use of a homophobic slur. “Faggot” was the term he had used, which greatly upset TR Knight, a homosexual cast member.
“I’m going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period,” Heigl said of Isaiah Washington, who ended up being let go from Grey’s Anatomy.
So do you find it “honorable” that Heigl is dropping out of the running for the Emmy this year, or is she basically saying that Grey’s Anatomy’s writers sucked this year?
