HBO had telecast the movie, Recount, on Sunday night, May 25. This movie was about the 2000 presidential election recount in Florida. Recount would be aired again on Monday night, May 26.

Recount was about the battle for the recount of votes in Florida. The cast included Kevin Spacey, Bob Balaban, Ed Begley Jr., Laura Dern, John Hurt, Denis Leary, Bruce McGill and Tom Wilkinson. The movie contained fiction, news footage and some real life dialogue that was said long ago.

Katherine Harris (played by Laura Dern) was Florida’s Secretary of State in 2000. She presided over the recount process. The recount was crucial to both Al Gore and Jeb Bush. She was accused of emailing Jeb Bush and changing her computer’s operating system to prevent computer forensic investigations. Both Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris denied any wrong doing.
