Garth Brooks has received the inaugural Crystal Milestone Award at the Academy of Country Music Awards 43rd annual celebration.

Garth called the Academy to thank them and they immediately took the opportunity to personally ask him to make a guest appearance on their show. Garth, 46, readily obliged.

Garth had announced his retirement in 2000. He wanted to focus his attention to raise his kids from his former marriage to Sandy Mahl. They were divorced in 2001. Garth re-married in 2005 and it was to country music singer Trisha Yearwood.

Garth said that he wanted to prepare his kids for their future. After that, he might return to music.
