The art of Robert Rauschenber.
Posted on May 14, 2008Robert Rauschenberg, 82, a famous artist, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008. His representative, Arne Glimcher, announced this. Arne, the chairman of Pace Wildenstein, was from the Manhattan gallery that representated Robert Rauschenber.
Arne said that Robert died from heart failure. Robert was a jack of all trades. He was a choreographer, composer, painter, photographer, printmaker, performer and set designer. He believed that a artist need not restrict himself to only one medium or style.
Robert was famous for his “combines.” Those consisted of large collages of objects and paintings. He made about 160 of them in a period of 10 years. That was between 1954 and 1964.
