Mildred Loving made history and left us.
Posted on May 6, 2008Mildred Loving & Richard Loving.
Mildred Loving, the first black woman to challenge Virginia’s ban on mixed marriages, died last Friday, May 2, 2008.
Mildred’s daughter, Peggy Fortune, said that her mother passed away at the age of 68. Mildred and her white husband, Richard Loving, changed history in 1967 when the US Supreme Court granted them rights to marry. This landmark ruling overturned laws that banned inter-racial marriages. The changed laws affected about 17 states.
Richard had died in a car accident in 1975. Mildred had always shunned publicity and insisted that she never wanted to be a heroine. She said that she fought her case because she desired the right to marry Richard.

All my love and best wishes to her family.
Her time with Richard was short but their love still lives in all the mix kids today. I think Brad, Jolie and Madonna should do something for this woman as she has made it easy for them to express free love to other races all over the world.
Bye Mildred.
