Patricia Cornwell, 51, was a celebrated authoress who wrote mystery thrillers. One day, she contacted Margo Bennett, then FBI agent, for the purpose of doing research for her new novel.

Patricia and Margo struck up a close friendship which slowly blossomed into a full fledged lesbian love affair. Margo and her husband, Gene, were having marital and personal ethics problems. Gene was unhappy at his job with FBI. He started getting into scams and fraudulent claims.

When Margo decided to separate from Gene, he took custody of their 2 children and threatened her with their safety. Margo was supposed to testify against Gene in a trial about a scam and after his blackmail, she almost backed down. However, lawyers at the trial persuaded her to tell the truth.

Gene was convicted and sentenced to a year’s jail. After his release, he went after Margo but she foiled his attack. Gene was again locked away, until 2016. Patricia and Margo have since separated.

Margo’s story has been written by Caitlin Rother and John Hess in the book called “Twisted Triangle.” The extract is rather long. Please refer to the source for more details.
