American Idol results April 23 – Carly Smithson out.

Carly Smithson sang her best for “Jesus Christ Superstar” but she was eliminated. Carly said that she was very proud of herself. She was not upset that she was going home.

Simon Cowell said that she should be proud of herself. It was anyone’s guess what he really meant by his remark.

It was a nervous time for Syesha Mercado as she was also at the bottom two after the votes were counted. Eventually, it was Carly who had to leave American Idol.
