American Idol’s Simon Cowell has built a new house.

Simon Cowell drove in his $1million Bugatti Veyron to inspect his $8 million Beverly Hills mansion he commissioned to build from scratch. His new home would have 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a gym, media room and swimming pool. Construction started in 2006 and was still ongoing.

Simon’s current home in Hollywood Hills has a telescope installed. He said he enjoyed looking around his neighborhood. He also quickly defended his hobby by saying that his telescope could not look into bedrooms or showers. His neighbors included Leonardo DiCaprio, John Travolta and Christina Aguilera. Simon lived with his girlfriend Terri Seymour and he has repeatedly said that they had no plans to marry.
