Amy Winehouse’s mother has multiple sclerosis.
Posted on March 23, 2008Amy Winehouse’s mother, Janis Winehouse, has revealed that she has suffered from multiple sclerosis for the past 30 years. She refused to acknowledge her symptoms until she had a collapse 7 years ago. After a barrage of tests, she was finally diagnosed with the disease.

Janis said that her condition was aggravated by stress. She had her own health problems to battle and could not take a direct hand in helping Amy battle her addictions. Previously, she was criticized for failing to intervene to guide Amy.
Janis said that her ex-mother-in-law, Cynthia Winehouse, helped her with her children. She had a hard time working and managing with Alex and Amy after Mitch left their family home in an amicable arrangement.
Currently, Janis works 2 days a week at the pharmacy and spends the rest of the week looking after Amy’s finances.
