American Idol’s David Cook is scandalized by plagiarism claims.

David Cook is scandalized by claims that he stole the musical arrangement idea for his rendition of the Beatles’ song, “Eleanor Rigby.” A band from Seattle called DOXOLOGY had recorded their version of Eleanor Rigby about one and a half years ago. They made the song available on iTunes and their MySpace page.

DOXOLOGY’s band manager said that the song was sort of like the band’s theme song and it was played at nearly every show they performed in. He said that they had no intention of suing but they wanted to get in contact with American Idol with some requests.

American Idol’s procedure was to allow contestants to select their song and ideas for musical arrangement and work with the show’s musical department. The producers of American Idol had no ideas where the contestants derived their musical arrangements from.
