Lovers Quarrel led to Valentine’s Day death.
Posted on February 18, 2008Richard Raynor, 23, had a quarrel with his girlfriend, Katie Robinson, 22. They were a British couple, visiting Venice. He disappeared without a trace on Valentine’s Day. On Saturday, Feb. 16, his body was discovered under a bridge.
Katie told the police that they had a romantic dinner which ended in a petty fight over whether to stay on for another drink. Katie was tired and wanted to return to their hotel. Richard wanted to stay on and have another drink.
Richard’s body was found in a Venice canal.
Katie went to get a taxi and when she returned to their table, Richard had left. She assumed that he went out drinking on his own so she returned to their room and waited for him there. When Richard did not show up for their scheduled flight home, she realized that he might be in trouble, so she raised the alarm.
Italian police said that they thought the case was a suicide. Both the families of Katie and Richard refused to speak to the press.
