Edwina Boyle was in a drum for 23 years.
Posted on February 16, 2008Frederick Boyle has been accused of murdering his wife and hiding her corpse in a green drum for 23 years. Mrs Edwina Boyle was missing since Oct. 1983. Frederick excuse her absence by saying that she eloped with a truck driver named Ray. Her body was hidden at the family home in Carrum Downs, near Melbourne, Victoria.
The Boyles were married on February 26, 1972.
The people in the house could not understand why there was a barrel in the yard. One occupant, Michael Hegarty, the ex son-in-law of Frederick, finally opened the green drum during a cleaning exercise. He discovered a hessian bag and women’s clothes inside. Frederick immediately took the hessian bag and dumped it into a disposal bin outside the house. Michael was suspicious and went to have a second look at it and discovered the bag of bones.
The police investigated and found that Edwina could have died from a bullet to her head. Frederick denied killing her. He said he found her body and hid it because he was afraid that he would be the first suspect.
