Breaking News – Kirsten Haglund is Miss America 2008.

Kirsten Haglund, Miss Michigan, 19, was crowned Miss America 2008, on Saturday night. This show was televised live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas.

Kirsten, from Farmington Hills, Michigan, impressed many with her rendition of “Over The Rainbow.” She also wore a black-gold bikini. Kirsten won a $50,000 scholarship and a year of travel performing her duties as Miss America 2008. The first runner up was Miss Indiana, Nicole Elizabeth Rash. The second runner up went to Miss Washington, Elyse Umemoto.

Miss Utah, Jill Stevens, an Army medic who served in Afghanistan, was voted as “America’s Choice” but she failed to make it to the final 10.
