The movie Bug was blamed for a killing.

Alberto Izaga, 36, a millionaire, suffered a sudden breakdown and killed his daughter, Yanire, 2, in a fit of rage. This happened in June 2007. He believed that she was possessed by the devil. His wife, Ligia, 35, stood helpless as she watched him batter their daughter to death.

The court heard that Alberto suffered a psychotic meltdown. Prior to that, he watched a horror flick called Bug. He was obsessed by it and did not sleep for 3 days.

At the court hearing, Ligia and Alberto’s family were there to support him. The jury found him not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. He was being held at a mental hospital to help him recover.
