Harold Shipman

Harold Shipman, the mass murderer, who became a notorious celebrity after his crimes were publicized, had been named in an entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. This dictionary recorded short biographies of famous British personalities.

Dr. Harold Shipman was convicted for murdering 15 patients, but had been accused of more than 200 murders. He hanged himself in Wakefield prison so that his wife would be entitled to obtain pension. The dictionary wrote that Harold had a superiority complex and could have killed to exercise his power.

Other celebrities named in the new edition of the dictionary included other prolific murderers, scientists, football managers, soccer players, reporters and broadcasters.
