The woman, 26, who said that she was raped by Jonny Evans, 19, could not make clear statements about her story. Police believed that she was mistaken in her claims. There were serious inconsistencies in her statements about the alleged rape. She gave different accounts of what happened to her. Eventually, she admitted that she might have been mistaken that Jonny Evans was the footballer who accosted her.

Jonny Evans had denied being involved with the woman. He said that he was targeted by her at the beginning of the party. The police hinted that it could be a case of alcoholic influence and she might be charged for wasting police time.
