Tony Blair converted to Roman Catholicism.

Tony Blair met Pope Benedict in 2007.
Tony Blair converted to Roman Catholicism as soon as he could after his resignation from 10, Downing Street. He used his official capacity to visit the Vatican in Rome 3 times in 4 years. His conversion came as no surprise because Tony had been attending the Catholic Mass with his family. He also took Holy Communion even though he was not approved to do so before his conversion. He only stopped when the Archbishop of Westminister, Cardinal Basil Hume, pointed it out to him that he was not supposed to do that.
Some British officials expressed surprise because Tony Blair previously held some anti-Catholic views on euthanasia, abortion and experimentation on embryos.
U.K.’s official religious head, the Archbishop of Canterbury, made a press release statement. He wished Tony Blair the best as he converted from one Christian faith to another.
