Kylie Minogue was the female shock jock when she lay herself seductively over a grand piano as she sang a slow version of her remake of “I Should Be So Lucky.” This was for the show, Jools Holland’s Hootenanny, supposedly a New Year Eve show. This was the 15th anniversary of the show. Its tradition was to feature the most popular / legendary stars of the year.
Some of the famous celebrities in this show included Lulu, Eddie Floyd, Mika, Madness, Kate Nash, Robbie Coltrane, Ruby Turner and Kaiser Chiefs. There were celebrities in the audience. David Tennant and John Simm were among the celebs spotted.
Kylie sang a duet with Sir Paul McCartney. It was “Dance Tonight”, from his album, “Memory Almost Full.”

Sexy? You jest !!! Trying to copy other who DID look sexy 20 years ago. Poor Jools, his NY line up is atrocious this year .He normally avoids pop and goes for more diverse music .Suppose he was badgered by her PR and BBC on back of a flat Dr Who junk, to flake up her profile by having her on, when he managed to ignore her entire 20 years of so called “singing”
At last. Zoem is so completely correct. Funnily enough I like Kylie because of her completely tacky persona she is the epitome of contemporary popular culture. All style (unoriginal) and (absolutely) no content. She looks fantastic…and that’s it, her whole act is based on sex. She can’t sing and no amount of production magic can change that. On a music programme that has always managed to maintain a reasonably high quality this was indeed its’ lowest point. I fell asleep during Dr.Who ( my children thought it was boring too).
But…I still adore her. That off-key forced voice is such a turn especially with that gorgeous body.
