Israel Mireles, 24, the suspect behind the murder of Emily Irene Sander (aka Zoey Zane), was captured on Dec. 19. He was arrested by Mexican authorities in Mexico. The U.S. officials are working with them to extradite Israel Mireles to Kansas. Since Mexico does not permit the extradition of its citizens if he faces the death penalty, Kansas will not impose the death penalty charge on Israel.

Israel was suspected of raping, sodomizing and killing Emily Sander. If he receives the conviction of capital murder, he will be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. Israel’s pregnant girlfriend, Victoria Martens, was found staying with Israel at the time of his arrest. She is not charged in the case and remains in Mexico.
