Miss Belgium, Alizee Poulicek, does not speak Dutch, one of Belgium’s national languages. She was booed by her live audience when she admitted that she could not speak Dutch. It did not help that she came from the country’s French speaking region. Presently, the political situation in Belgium is unstable.
The French and Dutch speaking communities are not on good terms. Alizee Poulicek’s crowing was not welcomed. The Dutch reporters publicly humiliated her by asking her questions in Dutch. Alizee defended herself by saying that she did take up lessons in speaking Dutch but she had not mastered the language yet.

Gerard,
It is obvious that foreign languages are not really your kind of thing, whether it is Dutch or English.
Though, in a country where 60% of inhabitants speak Dutch, I do think that Miss Belgium should at least speak some basic Dutch, don’t you?
Forget it buddy, the ENTIRE WORLD acknolowdges ENGLISH as the INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE. So why fight over languages?
