Every Friday, we bring you the list of the latest movies that are opening this weekend or have recently opened this week.

The Amateurs

A small town that was very poor produced a movie to sell sex. It needed to earn money or the town would die. Anyone who comes from a small town can sympathize with the sentiments here. Cast: Jeff Bridges.

Atonement

  1. Atonement.

When Briony was 13, she saw her sister and the servant’s son share a lewd act. The poor boy was packed off to jail. As she has turned into an adult, she tried to repair this damage to her family. Watch out for Keira Knightley who acted as the older sister. Other cast: James McAvoy.

Dirty Laundry.

  1. Dirty Laundry.

Patrick was a successful writer whose comfortable life was interrupted with the arrival of a son born out of wedlock. Patrick and Gabriel travel back to his home town to look for the boy’s mother. Patrick also has to decide what to do with Gabriel. Cast: Rockmond Dunbar, Aaron Grady Shaw, Loretta Devine.

Golden Compass

  1. The Golden Compass.

This is the first in the trilogy written by Philip Pullman in “His Dark Materials” trilogy. The heroine was a young girl who traveled a great journey to save the universe. Cast: Nicole Kidman, Dakota Blue Richards.

Grace Is Gone.

  1. Grace Is Gone.

A newly widowed man, whose dear wife was killed in the Iraq war had to deal with his 2 daughters. He decided to embark on a road trip and the small family learnt to grow closer together. Cast: John Cusack, Shélan O’Keefe, Gracie Bednarczyk.

Looking For Cheyenne.

  1. Looking For Cheyenne.

Cheyenne was disillusioned with life. She bailed out and became a recluse in the remote countryside. Her old girlfriend missed her and tried to find replacements in the form of a man and then another woman. She was unable to find true love and decided to search for Cheyenne. Cast: Mila Dekker, Aurélia Petit, Malik Zidi, Guilaine Londez.

Man in the chair

  1. Man In The Chair.

A young man, Cameron, wanted to realize his dreams of becoming a famous film maker. He sought help from former production crew members. The old men were all living in Motion Picture Retirement Home. They pitch in to help Cameron discover his dreams as a director. Cast: Christopher Plummer, Michael Angarano, M. Emmet Walsh.

Revolver

  1. Revolver.

Jake was a con man, fresh out of jail. He took his revenge on Macha, who had sent him into jail. Macha was very angry and ordered his assassins to kill Jake. Jake’s friends saved him and the trio join forces to destroy Macha. Cast: Ray Liotta, Jason Statham, Vincent Pastore, Andre Benjamin.
