David Blaine’s latest magic trick.

David Blaine, in 2003, when he stayed in a box suspended in the air near London’s Tower Bridge. He went without food for 44 days.
David Blaine said that he would be challenging himself again in May, 2008. He revealed his wish to stay awake for the longest period of time possible by standing upright and fighting sleep. There has been a list of alleged record holders who claimed they had withstood long periods of time sleepless.
The list included:
- Toimi Soini (from Finland). He stayed awake for 276 hours.
- Randy Gardner, 17, (from America), was awake for 264 hours.
- Tony Wright, 43, (from U.K.), was sleepless for 264 hours and 15 minutes.

David said that he was training himself for this stunt. He was getting fit, losing excess weight and doing everything in his power to prepare himself. He talked about the dangers of sleep deprivation. Basically, the expected consequences were –
1) After 36 hours, a state of intoxication occurs.
2) After 72 hours, paranoia / fear overtakes the person.
3) After the 4th day, hallucinations / day dreaming happens.
David said that he was confident that he could overcome the obstacles and perform this stunt.
