R&B star and two time Grammy winner, Usher welcomed baby Usher Raymond V into the world on Monday with his new wife Tameka Foster. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces. He is the couple’s first child. Foster, 37, has three children from a previous marriage.

“We are so happy and proud of our beautiful son. What a blessing!” Usher said in a statement provided Tuesday night by publicist Patti Webster.

Usher and Foster wed in an elaborate ceremony in early September after exchanging vows a few weeks earlier in a civil ceremony. They had called off their July 28 wedding amid reports that Foster had checked into a hospital because of problems with her pregnancy. A private ceremony was held August 3 in the office of Usher’s lawyer. About 200 people attended the formal ceremony held at a 16th-century-style French chateau resort on 3,500 hilly acres outside Atlanta.

The new baby in the family has reportedly helped heal the rift between Usher and his mother Jonetta Patton. Patton, who reportedly fell out with her son when he announced he was set to marry the mother of his child – stylist Tameka Foster, has embraced the couple’s new baby.

Patton told “People” magazine, “I’m extremely excited and filled with joy about the birth of my grandson, Usher Raymond V. “He is beautiful, precious, healthy and such a blessing. I’m very happy for my son and his wife. God has truly blessed them with a special gift. This will be an amazing holiday season for all of us.”
