Oprah Winfrey hands out cell phones to her girls.

Oprah Winfrey’s School in South Africa received a makeover. She has installed barbed wire around the school. It is unclear how this is going to help. The wire is supposed to keep out outsiders but the scandal that erupted involved a school matron, someone working inside the school.

The matron, Tiny Makopo, was arrested on charges of alleged assault, indecent assault, criminal injury and solicitation of underage girls for indecent acts.

Oprah has given all 152 students at the Oprah’s Leadership Academy for Girls their own cell phones, programmed with her personal number. She instructed the girls to call her whenever they face any problems.

That’s an honest effort at making amends, don’t you think?
