Brad Pitt’s Offer of $8M for L.A. Durant Mansion Rebuffed

Brad Pitt confessed his love of architecture to Oprah Winfrey in a 2004 interview. He told the talk show queen that he would probably be an architect if he wasn’t an actor. “I love that architecture is this huge art piece you can be inside. I believe it lifts your soul and affects your mindset.” The actor has been enamored with the architecture of a five-bedroom Durant estate close in proximity to his current compound in the L.A. neighborhood since his days with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. Pitt reportedly put in an offer of $8,000,000 despite the fact that the home wasn’t on the market. The current owner, who is a producer, allegedly found the offer flattering but not appealing enough to give up the property.

The mansion that has intrigued Brad boasts five baths, hand-carved woodwork, stained glass windows, a third-floor rotunda, a butler’s pantry, a pool, gardens, rolling lawns, city-to-ocean views, three fireplaces, an observation tower, a full basement, a circular motor court and a custom-made fountain. Sources report that Brad is turning his attention to his property his property down the hill with plans on making the estate more child-friendly.

Brad and his partner Angelina Jolie own many other properties so Pitt shouldn’t be too crushed that he didn’t get ownership of the Durante estate. Pitt and Jolie own a 4,088-square-foot oceanfront house at 32316 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, a six-bedroom, 7,435-square-foot 1830s masonry mansion at 521 Governor Nicholls Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter, and an 11.5-acre beachfront estate at 11000 Calle Real in Goleta, California. The Enquirer also reported that the couple owns properties in France and Cambodia as well.
