Jay-Z Named Cash King by Forbes

Jay-Z tops the list of notable rappers in Forbes list of 20 Top Cash Kings. The president of Def Jam Recordings can attribute some of his 2006 $34 million income to the success of his comeback album Kingdom Come. The album sold over two million copies. Jay-Z also owns a sports bar franchise and a small stake in the New Jersey Nets basketball team. Jay-Z is also one of the owners and founders of the Roc-A-Fella empire, which includes Roc-A-Fella Records, Roc-La-Familia, Roc-A-Fella Films and Rocawear. The hip-hop mogul has lucrative advertising deals with Budweiser, Hewlett-Packard and General Motors.

Queens rapper 50 cent ranked second on the list despite the fact that he didn’t release a record during 2006. Part of his income was generated by advertisements with Reebok and his clothing company called G-Unit. G-Unit also involves ringtones and video games.
