George Michael Serving Community Service
Posted on August 16, 2007
George Michael, 44, is serving his 100 hours of community service at a London homeless hostel performing gardening duties. The singer was found slumped over the wheel of his Mercedes on a busy London street last October. Tests revealed the presence of club drug GHB and a therapeutic level of an anti-depressant in the singer’s system. He was convicted of being unfit for driving and taking presription drugs.
Michael said of his punishment, “I’m just like everyone else. If you do something stupid you have to pay the price. I’ve been doing some gardening and it’s great. I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s going well. I’ll do whatever they want me to do. I’m looking forward to helping out and I don’t want any special treatment.”
