Regis Philbin cracking jokes after his bypass surgery
Posted on March 15, 2007Regis Philbin announced on his daytime show on Monday that he would undergo open-heart surgery to clear out plaque in his arteries that had caused chest pains and shortness of breath. The bypass surgery was performed on Wednesday morning. Kelly Ripa told the “Live with Regis and Kelly” audience on Thursday that Phillbin was cracking jokes with nurses a day after his heart surgery.
Philbin is the former host of the hit game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” He’s been a national morning TV pesonality since 1989. Kelly Ripa became Philbin’s co-host in 2003.
