Heather McCartney will be contestant on upcoming “Dancing With the Stars”

Heather Mills McCartney is slated to compete as a contestant on March 19 as the new season of “Dancing With the Stars” debuts. The remarkable aspect of this announcement is that the 39-year-old former model lost her left leg below the knee in a traffic accident in 1993.

McCartney is the first contestant with an artificial limb to compete on the ABC reality show. She plans to donate her appearance fee to Viva! — an organization that campaigns on behalf of animals killed for food.

According to Reuters, Bodog.com, an online gaming site based in Antigua, opened bets Monday on whether Mill’s prosthetic leg will fall off when she hits the dance floor.
