79th Oscar Winners

The 79th Oscars had all the suspense of a Paris Hilton home movie.  The only surprise was Alan Arkin taking home Best Support Actor over Eddie Murphy, but to be honest I didn’t think Eddie was going to win anyway.  The awards had a very international flavor and ran nearly four hours.  The winners in the primary categories were:
Best Picture – The Departed
Best Actor – Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland
Best Actress – Helen Mirren, The Queen
Best Supporting Actor – Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine
Best Supporting Actress – Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirls
Best Director – Martin Scorsese, The Departed
Best Adapted Screenplay – The Departed
Best Original Screenplay – Little Miss Sunshine
